The family update

This past week was crazy. In the past three weeks Madison has been sick with a stomach virus. and Kip, Kevin and Jennifer have all had a cold. Kip got an ear infection which is no surprise to us. He started on meds and two days later began more fevers. We took him to the doctor and new meds were given. Kip steadily grew worse over the weekend with High fevers of 103'. He was throwing up and having lots of bowel movements.
As Monday grew closer and Kevin and Jennifer had no school we spent the day taking Kip to the doctor and getting a chest x-ray. That afternoon we found out his chest x-ray was clear so no news on why he was so sick and Madison fell off her bike. She broke her arm in two places. Of course it was her right arm above the elbow and involving her elbow. This made things just a bit worse in the house for the week.
The following morning Jen had to got to the doctor to only find out that she has bronchitis and need to get lots of medicine. Then that afternoon we were told to take Kip to the hospital for fluids. We were hoping to get some fluids and go home but we were admitted. Kip was diagnosed with the stomach bug called ROTA virus. ( Following in big sister's footsteps) He was definitely dehydrated. He was placed on IV antibiotics since he could not keep in the ones he was taking orally. His ears had quickly gotten worse and now he had a ear infection with pus and a bulging ear drum and a red throat even on IV antibiotics. Just as we thought nothing else could get worse. We were told that we were going to have to have Kip's ear tubes replaced and his adenoids removed prior to going home. Fevers had finally subsided and the surgery finally scheduled. (Again following in my big sisters footsteps) The Rota virus was finally resolved.
The surgery went well. He just had lots of trouble once they removed the breathing tube from an upper respiratory infection. So they watched him really closely after the surgery. We really felt like we were not going home until Saturday. He ended up with fluid in his lungs after the surgery and was in a lot of pain. Things were not looking like we were going to be moving too much. Amazingly Kip wanted to eat and had something to drink about 2:00 in the afternoon. We were able to go home Friday. Kip did well with all the medications and sleeping.
Also on Friday Madison went to an Orthopedic surgeon to get a cast and more x-rays. Thank goodness we did not need surgery she just needs to be extremely careful to not fall and hurt it further now that she has a cast. Madison choose a pink cast so she could have everyone sign it. Madison was extremely happy to see Kip and Mommy. We finally were all in the same house she said. She did well with her cast as well. She is definitely is having a hard time not running around and bugging her little brother. Things seem like we just skipped the week and nothing ever changed.
Hope everyone is doing as well as we are now and have a great week!!
